21st Century Skills in a Social Studies Curriculum Map!

Hey all,

As we’re working this year at transforming PS 130 into a 21st Century learning environment, the Partnership for 21st Century Skills and the National Council for Social Studies have released a Framework for integrating 21st Century Skills into Social Studies Curricula.  This is a great example of how 21st Century skills related to technology, media literacy and collaboration can be truly integrated in support of traditional standards, while preparing kids the world their heading into.

Their map, the first of it’s kind that I have seen, does a nice job of combining the skills embedded in the NYCDOE Social Studies Scope and Sequence for Social Studies, and the National Educational Technology Standards.

Have a look at the Press Release, and download the Social Studies Map (PDF), and see if you are doing anything in your classroom that can be connected to these efforts.
