Creating Gratitude Mandalas

A message from Guidance Counselor Mariasara Aprea-Alcoff….

…I have been enjoying teaching children and adults how to draw mandalas right before Thanksgiving and am always amazed at how much students love drawing them.  I use two YouTube videos for interactive modeling.  One is called “How to Grow a Mandala” the other is called “5 Mandalas”.

Besides being very calming and creative, I have also found that I can tell a lot about a child’s mindset when they are drawing Mandalas.  They also make a great “mind map” tool because they can be used to boost memory.   But most of all, used as a Gratitude Mandala, they allow a child to express their gratitude toward people, places and pets in their lives.

I hope the info below and pictures inspire you to take some time to do this activity at home with your child.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions…. – Mariasara
