Greetings P.S. 130 Scientists!
December is here already! Now is the time to begin to put together your 2017 P.S. 130 Science Fair projects! Our theme this year is Environmental Pollution Control! How can we build technology that will help clean up our environments?
This is only a suggestion, please feel free to explore any topic that suits your interests!
You may work alone or in groups no larger than 4 members. Family members in different grades may also work together. Ribbons and certificates will be awarded to every entry!
All projects are due to the lower and upper science labs by Monday, January 9, 2017!
The lower school science fair will take place Thursday, January 12th, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
The upper school science fair will take place Thursday, January 19th, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
Library Time: The library has some awesome books on building technologies for water,
land, and air clean-up. Discover what a geothermal engineer does to help our land. Or, find a book about snowflake patterns and create some fun paper-flake windows!
Family Time: Winter is a great time to look for animals that might still live in the neighborhood. When it snows we can follow animal tracks to discover animal homes and food sources. You can make “crystals” grow with sugar, water, string, a straw, and a cup.
This is a good way to study how snowflakes form! Do you have a thermometer in your home? Keep a daily record of the changes in temperature as we begin the winter season.
Grade 4: Practice for the N.Y.S. ESPET Science Exam will be held for all 4th grade students from 2:40 p.m. until 4:10 p.m.on Wednesday, May 10, 17, and 24th. More details will follow in April!
Please save the dates on your calendar for the 2 part exam during the weeks of May 30th until June 6th!
