Pivot to Remote School

In case we need to pivot to remote school at P.S. 130, here are the things you need to know.

Google Classroom

How do I access Google Classroom when P.S. 130 has to shift to Remote Learning?

Students in Grades 3K – 2nd Grade

  • How does your child log-in to their Google Classroom?
    • Students in grades 3K – 2nd Grade have a sticker QR code on their Red Homework Folder linking them to TeachHub.  They also have a sticker with their username and password. Caregivers can access their child’s Google Classroom by using this QR Code, or by visiting Teachhub.schools.nyc and entering their child’s username and password.
    • *Please note that our second grade students are familiar with their usernames and passwords and many are able to log on independently.
    • Once in TeachHub you will access your student’s Google Classroom using the following steps:
  1. Click on Elementary School (at top of page).
  2. Scroll down to the Productivity & Collaboration section.
  3. Select Google Classroom.
  4. Accept invitations to join any Google Classrooms to which you’ve been invited.

Students in Grades 2nd Grade – 5th Grade

  • How does your child log-in to their Google Classroom?
    • Students in Grades 2-5 will log in to teachhub.schools.nyc using log-in and password information they use consistently in technology class.
    • *Second Grade Families: If your second grade child struggles logging on independently, you can access their log-in information via the QR code sticker and username/password sticker located on their Red Homework Folder.

If you come across any problems getting on to your child’s Google Classroom please reach out to Tricia Ippolito at tippolito@ps130brooklyn.com. Please note that emails sent over the weekend may not receive a response until Monday.

Devices

All students should have access to a device in the event of snow days or other emergencies that force us to temporarily shift to remote learning. If your child does NOT have access to a reliable device at home and you would like to borrow one from the NYCPS, please let us know by emailing our Tech Coordinator, Rob Rios, at rrios@ps130brooklyn.com. We may be able to issue you a NYCPS iPad to use at home. Be sure to include your child’s full name and class number in your email.

Please keep in mind that these devices are completely “locked down” by the NYCPS and there is no access to the app store. Students are only able to use the limited apps that are already installed, which include Google Classroom, Safari/Chrome, and a few digital reading resources like Sora. Unfortunately, we do not have any school-level control over the apps on these devices – therefore we cannot add/remove apps ourselves.
